EPISODE_2
OF
UGLINESS OF AN INNOCENT
How will you feel, if the man
start telling you about my “silent night”? That was the only night that drew me
near to death, in the dark depth of a black river, in a dark room of zero hope.
A night that I had never wished to encountered in my life. The night that
showed me reasons, why nights are made to be in dark and never in the light. A
night that converted the crickets sounds to Beyonce “Broken Heart”.
The nature of my relationship
with my friends rears me to the level that I’m free from worries. What if I
reveal it to you that their mission wasn’t for my errand?
It happened that after the incidence
that dented my image in the world of an episodic story I authored few weeks ago
“Ugliness of an Innocent”, it implies some beatific challenges that channeled
the world of the dangerous effects of it into reality.
The injured heart is bleeding
unceasingly, the heavy allegation, false indictment can’t stop piercing the
heart. One month in the prison no one has asked of me, not even my Boss that nourished
the ideas of putting me in the prison with the fake and weak security man.
Being in the cage of Nigeria prison is equivalent to purgatory, I cried out in
the prison one afternoon as I recalled the black morning that instituted the
whole of my pains.
The D.P.O reacted immediately, good
for nothing stealing and dim boy I need an absolute tranquility, he
interrupted.
I am no longer in fear that they
might beat or harm me, I’m now fortified with their beatings.
One evening, still in my cage, I
heard a bold matured voice sounding at the D.P.O office that he wants the young
man jailed here for months now. The D.P.O insisted that until the Fake Boss of
mine ordered him he will never release me. The man offered the D.P.O two
million naira to release his friend Raphael.
I was inside the prison… I
neither thought deeply because I knew that none of my relative can spend such
huge amount of money on me. I can’t wait to see this kind and lovely man that
cared to save me from the pit of sorrow.
Let me release him for you, was
loudly uttered by the Divisional Police Officer, as he accepted the bribe from
the man.
An imaginer can never envisage
the joy that diluted the injured heart how I felt when I noticed that I’m free.
All of a sudden the door handle
went down as the man pushed to open the door.
I fainted immediately I sighted my
eyes ON HIM.
After some hours,I heard voices
saying, we are sorry brotherly, manage to open your eyes Gee, we really mar
your image and your personality, please find a place in your heart to forgive
us.
I was surrounded with friends and
colleagues; I managed to blink my eyes. I called them by their names one after
the other… Dozzy one of their seniors confessed that they were people that stole
the whole money in the company, since the Boss punished them by delaying their
three months salaries. That jailing me wasn’t their intentions; they knelt on
the ground asking for forgiveness. They were pleading in tears; their
intentions were to punish the Boss, without knowing that I,
the manager of the company would be the one to pay the price.
That was the “Silent Night”; I
had once and never again
